Frequently asked questions

How do I record an entry?

On the Today tab, press and hold the Hold to speak button and start talking. Release when you’re done, listen back, and keep the take if it feels right. It becomes today’s entry.

Why can I only record one entry per day?

That’s the whole idea. One take a day keeps the habit light and the archive honest — no backlog, no pressure to perform. If today’s take doesn’t feel right, you can re-record before keeping it.

Where are my recordings stored?

On your device. Spoken has no accounts and no servers of ours — nothing is uploaded unless you turn on iCloud backup, which goes to your own Apple account. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I back up or restore my journal?

Turn on iCloud backup in Settings inside the app. Your entries are mirrored to your personal iCloud, and restoring on a new phone happens automatically once you install Spoken and sign in to the same Apple account.

How do I lock the app with Face ID?

Go to Settings inside the app and enable the app lock. Spoken will then require Face ID (or your device passcode) each time it opens — your journal stays for your ears only.

How do I change my daily reminder?

In Settings you can pick the reminder time or turn it off entirely. Reminders are local notifications — they never leave your device.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Spoken to change or cancel. To restore a purchase on a new device, use Restore purchases in the app’s settings.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual entries from the Timeline, or delete the app to remove everything stored locally. If you used iCloud backup, you can clear that data from your iPhone’s iCloud settings.
